Amy Miles, Trustee and Chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee

Amy Miles is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and is the former CEO of Regal Entertainment Group. She chairs the Audit and Compliance Committee of the UT Board of Trustees.

Tony Ferrara, Vice Chancellor for Finance, UT Health Science Center

Anthony A. Ferrara has served as the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operations since September 2005.A certified public accountant, Ferrara brings to UTHSC strong experience in financial forecasting and the development of business plans. Previously, he served for four years as vice president for administration at Binghamton University in New York. Prior to that he was vice president for administration and business affairs at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he was responsible for overall financial and administrative management, as well as overseeing finances for the physicians’ practice group. The first 18 years of his career were spent in various leadership positions with the University of Illinois in Chicago and Urbana-Champaign.

 

Tonja Johnson, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer

Tonja Johnson was appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer for the University of Tennessee System on October 14, 2016. In this capacity, she has primary responsibility for assisting the president in maximizing the System’s operating performance and achieving its strategic goals and objectives. Johnson’s responsibilities also include overseeing the System strategic plan, initiating and managing strategic alliances, participating in the development of operating and capital budgets and providing executive oversight for five system-level offices, including: academic affairs and student success, communications and marketing, facilities planning and capital projects, human resources, and institutional research.

 

David Miller, Chief Financial Officer

David Miller joined the University of Tennessee as Chief Financial Officer in January 2017. Before joining the University of Tennessee, Miller served as vice president for administration and fiscal affairs at the University of Wisconsin System. Miller’s 20-year tenure at the UW System includes, among other positions, serving as senior vice president for administration and fiscal affairs, associate vice president for capital planning and budget, and assistant vice president for university relations. Before transitioning to higher education, he spent time in government relations. He served the Wisconsin legislature for five years as a policy analyst and legislative aide and also worked as a legislative analyst for the Tennessee legislature.

 

Matthew Scoggins, General Counsel

Matthew Scoggins serves as general counsel for UT System. The general counsel and attorneys working under the general counsel’s supervision are responsible for all legal matters affecting the University, including representation of the University and University officials in legal actions. The office’s attorneys strive to help University officials achieve their goals and solve problems in a practical, timely, legal, ethical and efficient manner. During his time at UT, Scoggins has been the lead attorney for providing advice and representation in a variety of areas, including student affairs, athletics, legislative affairs, Title IX and the Tennessee Public Records Act.
