Student Resources
The UT Promise program handbook and student resource guide are currently being revised. Information currently listed may not be accurate.
Maintaining UT Promise
To maintain eligibility for UT Promise, students must complete the following requirements:
- Be a full-time, continuously enrolled student
- Maintain the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship
- Complete the FAFSA annually
- Complete and submit 8 hours of community service every semester prior to each semester
- Complete a mentor reflection survey and continue meeting with your UT Promise mentor, if matched.
- Students must submit an agreement form to their campus financial aid office by the designated freeze date to qualify for the UT Promise scholarship. This form will be provided to students by their institution’s financial aid (OneStop) office.
Mentorship Requirement Deadline: June 1
All UT Promise students — whether assigned a mentor or not — will be required to complete a reflection survey each semester to fulfill their mentorship requirement and maintain scholarship eligibility. There are two survey deadlines each year: June 1 and Dec. 1. Details about the survey will be emailed directly to students and posted to the UT Promise website.
Giving Back Through Service
The University of Tennessee has a strong history and culture of serving others. UT Promise students are required to complete 8 hours of community service each semester to remain eligible for UT Promise. Volunteer activities must meet all three of the following criteria to count toward your community service hours for UT Promise:
- Meet a community need that directly benefits the larger public or external community beyond your campus
- Be offered through organizations such as a nonprofit, government agency, not-for-profit school, mutual aid organization, not-for-profit healthcare organization or campus-approved projects
- Be non-compensated
Community Service Deadlines
Spring semester Deadline: To be eligible for the Spring semester, service hours must be completed and submitted between June 2 – Dec. 1.
Fall semester Deadline: To be eligible for the Fall semester, service hours must be completed and submitted between Dec. 2 – June 1.
No additional service hours are required if you are taking Summer or Winter short-term courses.
Campus Service Tracking and Administrators
Students will track their service hours through their campus service tracking sites. Students can also use the sites to sign-up for community service opportunities. If you have questions about what counts as service, please contact your campus service tracker administrator.
